So, why am I writing a review on something that is going to saygoodbyeto all Indian viewers pretty soon.because in Malaysia the torture has just begun!! The cable service provider here, ASTRO, has started the telecast of this serial recently. After torturing the Indians for three (or was it more)long years, ArunahammingIrani decided that enough was enough!!.
I heard that it is coming to a close in India. In the next life - Pammi becomes bold.I know, I know Im a little late in writing a review on this one. Loo- behold ? the worst fear comes true ! the semi-clad nudie - the devar ji used to be around with/ had been dating ? becomes the younger Daughter-in-law ! heaven breaks loose for the males of the family and hell breaks loose for the females of the family !BUT the Indian Good Woman continues to be her good self ? and the serial comtinues ?until the Doordarshan authorities loose all their patience !Īnyways, Aruna brings a twist in the tale ? the most controversial debate of the era ?Is their life after death? / ?Did Lord Krishna say the truth when he said to Arjuna in Kurukshetra -the soul is immortal? Whereas the vamps and trouble creators are dressed in little more that brassieres and little more than G-strings and creating a whole lot of danga-fasaad in the entire house hold! ? no one is able to handle the current generation imps?and pimps ! Parents have given up hope and are totally depending on the newly wed Indian Good Woman (refer point 1 for definition) to handle the situation ! ? who in turn handles the situation by begging, crying, weeping ?falling at their feet and requesting the imps not to : be greedy for family inheritance, be at the discotheque till late hours, be boozing and smoking and getting drugged, be smooching & kissing available semi-clad nudies as father & mother in-law will never accept such a club goer as their younger daughter ?in-law ! blah- blah !! How does she look like ? Vermillion smeared hair parting, pinned cotton saaree, docile looks, downcast eyes, eyes often filled with tears, serving in-laws like her own parents, daughter?s parents crying all the time ? thinking what had they done to deserve such a son-in-law ! The one who is pure, chaste, innocent is basically DUMB ! failing to understand what is happening around her ? ever forgiving, calm in spite of 101 jhamelas (problems), patient, weeping silently, swallowing pain pills one after the other !! Indian Good women, who believe in culture and religion and pursue their dreams of waiting for the one true love ? the man of her heart with whom she will live happily ever after ? ie. The character of vamp Anu is more accentuated in fact, in this serial ? such serials show one thing in common : the USP (Unique Selling Proposition) is : in spite of Dev Mallick?s true blue love ? Annu (khalnayika) ? sees to it that she messes up her life ! Thus Pammi, (a Bengali girl I believe !) in ?The Moon must have come out in good old country? never gets any respite.

SO Aruna Irani ? a woman who could not make it big as a heroin in bollywood ? later consoled herself in Motherly roles to heros.īut do you think she can forget her insult of Adulthood? No!
History & Background : In spite of working in two films opposite Amitabh Bacchan, she landed up with the role of vamps ! Why ? coz? probably the Directors thought that she looks vampish ? cunning, cruel, calculating etc.
